AMS Industries, Inc. partnered with Berg Engineering to design an HVAC system that could properly cool and dehumidify one of the most popular attractions at the Brookfield Zoo. The dehumidification of the Seven Seas at the Brookfield Zoo required two new dehumidification air handling units with two main objectives in mind: 1) Increase the airflow and improve the air distribution in the stadium space to provide clean air for the dolphins to breathe and 2) reduce the humidity and air temperature in the stadium area to provide a more comfortable environment for the public to enjoy the beloved dolphin show.

While a small chilled water system was also installed to provide cooling for the enclosed Underwater Viewing Area inside the building, majority of the construction was focused on the stadium space. Beginning in Fall of 2023, new 60” round ductwork was installed high in the stadium space to carefully avoid spectator views. From the air handlers to the ductwork and hardware, every component of the new HVAC system was designed to withstand the harsh salt-water environment and provide long-lasting life to the system. Following an electrical upgrade to the Seven Seas building, the new equipment was commissioned in the Spring of 2025.
